My name is Tyche! (pronounced like tie-kee, or tee-kay depending on what part of the country you're from)

I grew up on a small colony on an asteroid in space. (i guess ALL asteroids are in space, actually...)
I had a normal childhood with a normal family -- cute little aluminum condo, reinforced steel picket fence, well-manicured astroturf lawn, typical stuff -- but I guess something happened and everyone had to leave suddenly... All I know is that one day I was out playing in dirt and came back to a colony with nothing but robots!

Lucky for me, it turns out robots are pretty good at childcare! And the colony was stocked with supplies to last who-knows-how long, so I never needed to worry about food, clean clothes, or companionship...
They even taught me self-defense, which turned out to be pretty important 'cuz turns out there are some NASTY things up on that asteroid and they do NOT want to be your friend, trust me I've tried! (They taste pretty good though, if you're bored of canned meat!)
Only thing is, robots aren't the best at conversation, so it got a little lonely up there...

But one day, a miracle happened -- a passing ship responded to my SOS signal, and I was rescued!
I was so excited to meet other humans for the first time in over a decade, that I forgot that I only had machines to hang out with and never learned social skills...
So whenever I'm around another person, I freak out and my heart starts beating crazy fast, and I forget how to talk. What the heck!!!!

Anyway, I got hired at a mercenary agency since I'm not really good at anything besides bashing and shooting stuff... it's less cool than it sounds, 'cuz most of the time I'm just standing around guarding some weird facility or other, and they won't let me talk to anyone! It sucks!

I've been spending most of my free time browsing the Internet to catch up on the [number missing] years of society and culture I missed, and boy, have things changed a lot! Apparently people are so lazy now that even playing video games is too much work -- they just watch other people do it! Can't say I get the appeal, but... Maybe it'd be a good way to make friends? It's just talking and playing games, it can't be that hard... Right? Well, except for the whole lack-of-social-skills thing... Umm... Hmmmmm...

Well, won't know till I try, I guess...
